The Vincent Price Signature Wine Collection
"A man who limits his interests limits his life." - Vincent Price
From a 65-year acting career that began on the London stage and took him to stardom as the Master of Menace in countless classic horror films; to his art expertise that led him to start the first contemporary art museum on the West Cost, serve on the White House Art Committee and sell fine art at Sears Roebuck; to his reputation as a gourmet and advocate of the food movement, leading him to author three iconic cookbooks, Vincent Price was a true Renaissance man.
The Vincent Price Signature Wine Collection pays tribute to A Treasury of Great Recipes, by Mary and Vincent Price, which is widely regarded as one of the world's most famous cookbooks, and was dubbed by Saveur as one of the 100 most important culinary events of the 20th century. The collection also acknowledges Vincent's role as one of the California wine industry's first global ambassadors as the first spokesman for the California Wine Institute in the 1960s and 1970s.
The Vincent Price Family Legacy is overjoyed to pay tribute to Price's omnivorous life philosophy with this first offering of the Vincent Price Signature Wine Collection. Inspired by Vincent Price's love of the arts and the writing of Edgar Allan Poe, each of our wine labels has been created by an artist. (Gris Grimly, Abigail Larson, Aaron Lea, and Chet Phillips.) We hope you will collect and enjoy Raven Cabernet, Prospero Pinot Noir, Lenore Chardonnay, and Bartolome Red.
2013 "Lenore" Chardonnay: Our Chardonnay from San Giacoma Roberts Road Sonoma Coast Vineyard has aromas of fresh pears, honeysuckle and vanilla bean with the flavors of rip Fuji apples, butterscotch, and peaches. Light golden yellow in color, the palate is rich with vibrant acidity, some minerality and juicy fruitiness. This is a great example of a Chardonnay that has been produced like a white Burgundy, but with a touch of California style. It will definitely improve with time in the bottle. . .but good luck waiting!
2012 "Raven" Cabernet: This Reverence Vineyard Cabernet, which was appropriately harvested on Halloween 2012, has aromas of mocha, blackberries, tobacco, and anise. Flavors include dark fruits, vanilla and spice. This is a full mouthed wine with polished tannins, a complex palate and good focus. Already quite approachable, but has the acidity and tannins to age quite nicely.
2012 "Prospero Pinot Noir": This Pinot Noir from Sonoma Stage Vineyard features aromas of raspberries, violets, and baking spices as well as flavors of ripe dark fruits, wild berries and black cherries. This is a medium weight Pinot with a beautiful mouthfeel, a sweet mid-palate, polished tannins and great length. An excellent balance of elegance and structure.
"Bartolome Red" Blend: Bold with a soft, lush mouthfeel and polished tannins, our house red features aromas of Bing cherry, espresso and cocoa powder with flavors of mocha, wild berries, and black pepper. This is a truly mysterious and fascinating blend! The aromatics and flavors are quite complex and evolve beautifully over time in the glass. Very difficult to describe, but very easy to enjoy!
